R. Barry McComic

R. Barry McComic is an internationally known attorney and developer of master planned communities and large scale high-tech industrial parks.  He has had a 30 years association with the University of California, San Diego, and is President Emeritus of that university’s foundation.  He has also served on the Boards of the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis and the California Western School of Law. He is currently acting as Of Counsel to a major Chinese law firm located in Shanghai with an international practice. 

Mr. McComic began his career as a Wall Street lawyer.  After practicing law for over a decade in New York, he became President of a publically held company in California specializing in the development of major communities.  San Diego’s largest high tech park containing over 600 acres was developed by that company.  Mr. McComic was instrumental in bringing many well known companies to locate in San Diego including Sony Corporation of America which built its first ever U.S. manufacturing facility there.  The site is now the United States headquarters of Sony. 

In recent years Mr. McComic created his own company and has continued to develop master planned communities.  In addition, he has acted as a consultant to various departments of the United States Government and to some of the largest financial institutions and industrial companies in the U.S.  He also has extensive international business experience and has had partners in China, Korea, Japan, Indonesia, Philippines, Netherlands, Canada and Great Britain.  These ventures involved investments in real estate, finance, telecommunications, entertainment, retail sales and manufacturing. 

Over the years, Mr. McComic has worked with the San Diego Economic Development Corporation, of which he was a board member, and the University of California to promote San Diego as a high quality educational center contributing to the area’s economic development. 

Mr. McComic has served on the boards of numerous charitable and business boards and has been widely recognized for his community services.  He has been listed in Who’s Who in America since 1978 and is Vice Chairman of the Board of the U.S. China Foundation for International Exchange. 

Mr. McComic has been admitted to practice law in New York, California and Tennessee.  He is a graduate of Union University and Tulane University School of Law (Order of the Coif, Asst. Editor Tulane Law Review).  He attended the University of  Freiburg, Germany as a legal scholar on a fellowship from the Ford Foundation and a scholarship from the Friedrich Ebert Foundation.  He also attended the Hague International Academy of law.

近年来，麦先生创办了自己的公司，继续从事开发总体规划大型社区的项目。除此之外，他还是美国多家政府部门，大型金融机构和产业公司的顾问。麦先生拥有丰富的国际合作经验，与中国，韩国，日本，印尼，菲律宾，荷兰，加拿大和英国都开展过合作。合作领域包含房地产，金融，电讯，娱乐，零售和制造业。

多年来，麦先生与圣地亚哥经济开发公司合作，作为董事他还与加州大学圣地亚哥分校合作推动该校作为高质量教育中心推动地区经济发展。麦先生还担任许多机构的名誉董事，其对社会的贡献得到了广泛的认同。麦先生还是美中国际交流基金的副董事长，并从1978年起就入选美国名人录。

麦先生获得了纽约州，加州和田纳西州的法律执照。他毕业于美国杜兰大学法学院，曾就读于德国弗莱堡大学，海牙国际法学院。
